First heard on 'Gospel, Blues, and Street Songs', which is a split LP of Rev. Gary Davis and Pink (the "Pink" in Pink Floyd) Anderson. Further listening unearthed versions by Mississippi Fred McDowell on Blue Thumb Record 'Memphis Swamp Jam' and the Biograph LP 'This Old World is in a Hell of a Fix'. This LP (BLP-12027) is one of the most outstanding collections of Gospel and spirituals ever made, spanning from 1927-1969...it has probably the most macabre cover art pre-dating heavy metal.
